Buying a home is one of the most expensive purchases you'll ever
make.
The information you need about the home you're buying must
come for someone who is working for you alone. Your Home Inspector
should be knowledgeable and experienced.
I've been doing inspections for ten years and have thirty-five years
of construction experience. I am a construction consultant, a
construction manager, and sometime builder-and I've tended to the
1929 house I live in for over thirty years. Most houses have a
personality, and all of them have something that needs fixing or
improving. You need to know what's right about the house you're
buying, and what's wrong.
The inspections take about three hours, longer if needed. They
include guidance on managing your home, suggestions regarding
improvements and repairs, advice on when an expert is needed, and an
onsite checklist report with comments.
I inspect a typical home of up to 2000 sq. ft., within comfortable
driving distance in the Dane County area for a standard fee of $300.
I charge somewhat more for larger, older, or more distant homes.
I
also offer Radon Testing, Water Quality Testing, and new
construction "punch list" assistance. I perform Commercial and
Rental Property Inspections, and am licensed to do Rental
Weatherization Inspections.
